Community Wisdom Council
Next Council Gathering Date: Stay Tuned!
Gather in circle for an evening practice in The Way of Council. Council is an ancient way to share story and communicate in a group by speaking and listening from the heart. On this night we will join in circle to witness the authentic truth that emerges from individuals and the collective council.
Council space is held together by observing a handful of simple intentions:
Speaking from the heart - Sharing words from lived experience by connecting our story to our feelings; or using song, movement, and even silence to express spontaneous feelings.
Listening from the heart - Witnessing others by giving our full attention to their presence; seeking understanding and staying present to help the speaker safely speak their truth.
Spontaneity - Not planning what to say when it's your turn to speak; this gifts the other speakers with your full attention and allows your heart to speak freely in the moment.
Lean of expression - Practice getting to the essence of your heart's truth and trusting that not everything needs to be said since we are being fully witnessed by others; also allows time for others to share.
Supporting these four intentions is the ground of confidentiality - "what you hear here, stays here when you leave here"; confidentiality is essential for building trust and respect.
If you feel called to speak from your heart and want to practice attentive listening, join us for this nourishing evening where wisdom resides and community thrives.
As part of the evening we will create a community altar. Please bring an item to place on the altar that tells a story you want to share.

"The Way of Council, a listening circle, is a good ancient tool. I know that by participating in circles people can release their fears, prejudices and stereotypical expectations. Sitting in a circle with heart communication creates connection and acceptance. When their perception shifts in this way, love and respect comes through. That’s a powerful tool."
